John Anderson
How would you describe your music or art to people?
My art challenges the preconceived notions about my existence as a Black person in America through the manifestation of different realities by piecing together the parts of my identity that were stripped away from me through interpersonal, systemic, and generational violence.
What first got you into your art?
My first director when I was a freshman in high school encouraged me to pursue a career through acting and poetry.
What kind of energy, vibe, or message do you hope to spread?
We can always rebuild.
Who or what are your main inspirations? Groups? Specific albums?
Jordan Peele, Terrence Nance, Danez Smith, Imani Davis, Frank Ocean, Christopher Nolan
How does your identity influence your art?
Everything I make is for Black people specifically.
Why do you love about performing?
Being vulnerable and losing myself in the piece.
What is your favorite type of candy?
Toffifay
